He rose to fame with his breakthrough performance as Johnny, a vagabond with mental health issues, in Ranjith's Madras (2014). Krishnan continued to work in Ranjith's films, as well as in Vada Chennai (2018), where he played a supporting role. He also played a notable role in Sandakozhi 2 as a clan member.
