Malayalam movies are known for their content and experimenting different genres, 2018 also doesn't has shortage in it. While Big M's movies like Abrahaminte Santhathikal, Odiyan and Nivin Pauly's Kayamkulam Kochunni fared very well at the box office many small movies with great content gained critical appreciation.

10. Ranam: Ranam: Detroit Crossing is an international Malayalam film that has its roots deep in Detroit, USA. The making, locations, good performances, cinematography, direction, and brilliant background score are the highlights of Ranam. 

The Movie is directed by Nirmal Sahadev and produced by Yes Cinema Company. Movie has an ensemble cast of Prithviraj Sukumaran, Rahman, Isha Talwar, Mathew Arun, Ashwin Kumar among others.

9. Carbon: Carbon is an adventure thriller that keeps us engaged. Fahadh Faasil was amazing, It is a pleasure watching him deliver such performances without breaking a sweat.

7. Lilli: Lilli is a violent,gripping survival thriller which is not an easy watch. Lilli is directed by Prasobh Vijayan and stars Samyuktha Menon, Kannan Nayar, Dhanesh Anand, Sajin Cherukayil, Kevin Jose, Aaryan Menon in the lead.Movie is produced by E4 Experiments.

Director Soubin Shahir shares the screen with a Nigerian actor named Samuel Abiola. The film is produced by Sameer Thahir, Shyju Khalid under the banner Happy Hours Entertainments.

1. Ee.Ma.Yau: Ee.Ma.Yau deserves the top spot. Lijo Jose Pellissery's dark satirical drama excelled as an art and at the same time it satisfied normal audience. The Movie is directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery and produced by Rajesh George.The film features Dileesh Pothan, Vinayakan, Chemban Vinod Jose in prominent roles. Set in a fishing village in Eranakulam, the film revolves around the death and funeral of Vavachan Mesthry.
