SRK starrer 'Kya Khoya Kya Paaya' a video album which had Atal Bihari Vajpayee's poems.
Today is the first death anniversary of the renowned politician and ex-prime minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee and we go down the memory lane when his poem was used in a video album directed by Yash Chopra sung by Jagjit Singh starring Shah Rukh Khan.
Atal Bihari Vajpayee was known for not just his politics, but his poems too. The former Indian prime minister is credited with penning some unforgettable poems, one of which was adapted into a music video featuring Shah Rukh Khan.
Vajpayee, who died last year on this date, 16th August the age of 93, got Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Javed Akhtar, and the late Jagjit Singh and Yash Chopra to come together for a memorable music video that featured him too.
The video, titled Kya Khoya Kya Paaya, was released as part of a music album called Samvedna, with poems culled from Vajpayee's book Meri Ikyavan Kavitaayein (My 51 Poems).
The preface is by Javed Akhtar in the voice of Amitabh Bachchan. The poetry is set to music by Jagjit Singh. Director Yash Chopra shot the video that stars Shah Rukh Khan.
The album was released in 2002. The former prime minister, in each of the 51 poems in the album, spoke about his experiences ranging from the Emergency to his birthday and events in between.
Kya Khoya Kya Paaya in Jagjit Singh's mellifluous voice struck a chord with many. Vajpayee also features in the video.
Samvedna, translated in English, is sensitivity. Something that Vajpayee's poems have time and again reminded his readers.
