Shriya Saran's Life Journey In The Film Industry

She is one of the highest paid actresses in the Indian Film Industry and she has featured in multiple language films. Apart from acting, the actress is also a talented dancer and she is highly trained in Kathak and Rajasthani Folk Dance. On her guru’s insistence, she even featured in a music video which was quite popular back in those days.

Here is a summary of her journey from a small-town girl to a known personality:

1. She was born on 11th September 1982 in Haridwar, Uttarakhand. Her father was an employee at BHEL and her mother was a chemistry teacher. She did her schooling in Delhi Public School both in Ranipur and Delhi. She did her college studies from Lady Shri Ram College in Delhi.

2. Because of her dancing skills, she was featured in a music video which made every youngster during those days to go gaga over her beauty and charm. The video then caught the eye of a famous production house Ramoji Films, who then cast her in a Telugu film called Ishtam. She then had her first commercial success with Santhosham.

3. There was a time when her films were failing miserably in the box office and there were times even when the films were successful but her performance was sidelined most of the time. During this time, she devoted herself to featuring in various item numbers and also made a debut in Bollywood with the film Awarapan. She was then featured in Rajinikanth's mega-blockbuster film Sivaji - The Boss which was the most expensive films in Indian cinema.

4. Apart from Indian Film Industry, she also made her debut in Hollywood ventures too, her most acclaimed Hollywood film was Midnight’s Children, which is an adaptation of Salman Rushdie’s acclaimed book of the same name.

5. Her only Bollywood film which was loved by the audience was Drishyam which was the remake of a Malayalam film of the same name. The film was one of the biggest hits of that year. The film also featured Ajay Devgn, Tabu and Rajat Kapoor in pivotal roles. The film was well appreciated for its gripping storyline and the whodunit themes which was present in the acclaimed book called The Devotion Of Suspect X.

6. She has been the third celebrity to give a lecture at IIM-Ahmedabad after Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan, her lecture became a case study in the university and she had also given the same lecture in IIT-Madras.

7. Apart from acting, she has been active in the philanthropy ventures too, she had recently opened a spa called the Shree Spa where the employees are mostly visually impaired. The venture was well appreciated by her peers. The actress once stated that during her school days, she had seen a blind school opposite to her school and observed that even blind people also tend to do normal activities like playing, writing and many others which a normal person can do.
