This iconic Bollywood actress has turned 52 today.
Madhuri Dixit is considered as one of the best actresses of Hindi Cinema but one of the important factor of her charismatic performance on the silver screen is her elegant dance number.
On the occasion of her birthday, we present you her 5 iconic dance sequences in films which made her the legendary dancing diva.
1) Dhak Dhak Karne Lga - Beta (1992)
We start with the obvious, Beta starring Anil Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit is known for this sensuous and seductive dance performance which not only made men skip their heartbeats but also crowned her the tag of ‘Dhak Dhak’ girl.
This song and the dance number choreographed by famous choreographer Saroj Khan is considered as the most popular song of the late 20th century despite being copied version of the Telugu song Abbanee Teeyani from the film Jagadeka Veerudu Atiloka Sundari (1990) starring Sridevi and Chiranjeevi.
2) Ek Do Teen - Tezaab (1988)
This song and the movie made Madhuri Dixit overnight sensation and the signature dance step of the song is still imitated to this date.
Bollywood’s legendary Choreographer Saroj Khan who choreographed this song became a long collaborator with Madhuri.
Saroj Khan also received Filmfare Award for best choreography, this category was introduced that year for the first time due to this song.
3) Humko Aajkal Hai Intezaar - Sailaab (1990)
This film is only known for this song which showcases Madhuri in a Maharashtrian outfit and the dance steps are inspired by the dance form lavani.
This is another gem from Saroj-Madhuri combo.
4) Choli Ke Peeche Kya Hai - Khalnayak (1993)
This song stirred controversy for its suggestive lyrics but Madhuri Dixit performed the song so elegantly that we didn’t see any trace of vulgarity in the song picturization.
The song also features Neena Gupta and Sanjay Dutt.
5) Kay Sera Sera - Pukar (2000)
When two dancing legends came together on the floor it created history. Prabhudeva and Madhuri set fire on stage and Madhuri gave a tough competition to Prabhu. This song was also Madhuri’s different style of dance out from the dancing style of Saroj Khan.
Honourable mentions:
Maar Daala - Devdas (2002)
Ankhiyan Milaye Kabhi Ankhiyan Churaye - Raja (1995)
Chane Ke Khet Mein - Anjaam (1994)
Didi Tera Dewar Deewana - Hum Aapke Hai Kaun (1994)
We wish this queen of dance many many happy returns of the day!
