The 2019 edition of the Billboard Music Awards hit off in Las Vegas at the MGM Garden Arena. As paparazzi stormed the red carpet, the event saw the attendance of many A-listers in the music industry. The host for the event was Kelly Clarkson. It was a night packed with entertainment as Taylor Swift took to the stage with Brendon Urie of Panic! at the Disco, to perform her newly released song, ‘ME!’. Also seen on stage were Ciara, Tori Kelly and Halsey. In addition to ‘Without Me,’ she was also seen in a collaborative performance with BTS.
When it comes to the award-winners, Cardi B got the highest number of nominations, with 21 nominations in 18 categories. On the other hand, Drake made history, with the highest number of Billboard Awards to be received; he won 12 awards that night which added up to 27 awards in total. He won the ‘Top Artist’ award for the year as well as the ‘Top Male Artist’. The ‘Top New Artist’ was Juice WRLD. Ariana Grande received the Billboard Chart Achievement Award as well as the ‘Top Female Artist’. BTS walked away with ‘Top Social Artist’ as well as the ‘Top Group/Duo’. Cardi B received the award for ‘Top Rap Female Artist’.
It was not just a flawless event, but also a flawless red carpet. Taylor Swift looked stunning in lavender ruffle dress by Istanbul-based designer Raisa Vanessa. With Taylor back in the spotlight again with her new album, we are able to witness the revival of a pastel-moment. K-pop group ‘BTS’ on the other hand, gave us major tuxedo inspirations. Cardi B looked all set to grab her award, dressed in a yellow two-piece ensemble. She completed the look with silver heels and jewellery, both by Loree Rodkin.
