Lot of actors play politicians on the big and small screens, but few have made the transition in real life. At every level of government, there are actors who have used their charisma, good looks, and personalities to get the policies they support enacted.

Here are a few of them:


1) RAJINIKANTH

Who else to start this list but the all famous Shivaji Rao Gaekwad known throughout the world as Rajinikanth with his slow but upcoming face in politics recently. Rajinikanth is known for his famous roles in several films in the Tamil industry. But in December of 2017 Rajinikanth told masses he was stepping into Politics along with acting. (phew seems like a lot) but so far Rajinikanth has been quite well with his latest movie being released tomorrow "Kaala". Rajinikanth urges the people and society of Tamil Nadu to strive for change in the state. He even says that the politics now has become so less and trivial in matter and should rise.


2) CHIRANJEEVI

Konidela Siva Sankara Vara Prasad better known as Chiranjeevi is a famous actor who at the time was the highest paid man in India. He was evevn names "bigger than Bachan" at the time of his glory days. but that does not mean he is any less now. He entered politics by forming Praja Rajyam Party. He led the Praja Rajyam Party to emerge as the third largest party during the same election. However, later on his party merged with Indian National Congress in February 2011.


3) SHARADA

Saraswati Devi more famously known as Sharada in the Tamil film industry. apart from acting on screens she took her skill on the stage and acted in Theatres in Tamil Nadu. After 1993 she started to become choosy with the films that she wanted to act in and mostly took Malayalam movies and a few Telugu. She was elected as a Member of Parliament on Telugu Desam Party ticket from her native town of Tenali.


4) BALAKRISHNA 

Nandamuri Balakrishna famously known as Balakrishna in predominantly the Tamil film industry. Balakrishna is known for his works in biographical films, historical films, and hagiographical films. He is an elected member of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly for the Hindupur.


5) DASARI NARAYANA RAO

Dasari Narayana Rao was an Indian film director, producer, screenwriter, dialogue writer, actor, lyricist, and politician known for his works predominantly in Telugu cinema, Television, and Bollywood. Dasari was elected to the Rajya Sabha in the year 2006. He became the Minister of state in Ministry of Coal. Said to be a confidante of Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Dasari once again became active in politics after Congress Party came back to power in 2004. Even with his passing Dasari is still remembered to be a legend in both the film industry and the face of politics.


6) SIVAPRASAD 

Naramalli Sivaprasad is an Indian film actor turned politician, belonging to Telugu Desam Party. In the 2009 election he was elected to the Lok Sabha from the Chittoor constituency in Andhra Pradesh. 


7) MURALI MOHAN

Murali Mohan Maganti is an Indian film actor, producer, politician and business executive from Telugu cinema. He is the Chairman of the construction company Jayabheri Group. He has also been active in politics for the Telugu Desam Party. He contested in the 15th Loksabha elections in 2009 as the TDP candidate from Rajahmundry parliamentary constituency of Andhra Pradesh, which eventually lost to the Indian National Congress candidate Vundavalli Aruna Kumar by just 2,147 votes. In 2014, he won the 16th Loksabha elections as a member of Parliament from Rajahmundry.


8) JAYA PRADA

Jaya Prada is an Indian film Actress and Politician.Jaya Prada joined the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in 1994 at the invitation of its founder N. T. Rama Rao, on the eve of the assembly elections, and rose quickly through the ranks.  She also held the post of Telugu Mahila President. 


9) PAWAN KALYAN


Konidela Kalyan Babu better known by his stage name Pawan Kalyan, is an Indian film actor, producer, director, screenwriter, writer, and politician. His film works are predominantly in Telugu cinema. Kalyan made his acting debut in the 1996 Telugu film Akkada Ammayi Ikkada Abbayi. In March 2014 he ventured into politics, founding the Jana Sena Party. During that period, Pawan Kalyan was listed by Google as the most searched Indian celebrity politician on Google Search. 


10) KRISHNAM RAJU

Raja Uppalapati Chinna Venkata Krishnam Raju better known as Krishnam Raju, is an Indian film actor, known for his works in Telugu cinema. He is widely known as Rebel Star for his rebellious acting style. He made his film debut with the 1966 Chilaka Gorinka produced and directed by Kotayya Pratyagatma. After the late 1990s, he became active in politics. He joined Bharatiya Janata Party and was elected to the 12th and 13th Lok Sabha from Kakinada and Narasapur constituencies. He served as a Minister of State for Ministry of External Affairs in the Third Vajpayee Ministry from 1999 to 2004. On 24 March 2009 he has joined Praja Rajyam Party founded by Chiranjeevi. In 2009 State Assembly elections he contested for M.P. seat from Rajahmundry and lost as he was associated with PRP.


11) KAMAL HAASAN

Kamal Haasan is an Indian politician, flim actor, dancer, film director, screenwriter, producer, playback singer and lyricist who works primarily in Tamil cinema. His breakthrough as a lead actor came in the 1975 drama Apoorva Raagangal, directed by K.Balachander, in which he played a rebellious youth who falls in love with an older woman. On February 21, 2018, Kamal Hassan formally launched his party in Madurai and announced its name as Makkal Needhi Maiam (People's Justice Centre). He also unveiled his party flag. The party's flag displays six joined hands altogether in alternate red and white colours with a white star at its centre in a black background besides a script saying Makkal Needhi Maiam.

These actors and actresses could have stayed their famous self become even more bigger and better in the film industry but chose to enter into politics with different goals in their minds. Mostly to do something more with their lives and make their nation greater.
