Premise/Story
Rakesh (Emraan Hashmi), who is heading a nexus where he gives merit-seats to non-deserving students to earn money. Will he succeed to outrun the legal Scrutiny ? or will he change his ways? Forms rest of the story.
The trailer has Already Revealed what the film gonna be about but that doesn't make anything less engaging in the movie. The tone of the movie is very subtle and is very close to reality. No over the top dialogues or cheesy Bollywood Action sequences pure storytelling. The Screenplay is edgy and a real drama, will hardly bore you at any point.
The Casting is perfect, Emraan Hashmi gave his best performance. Rakesh (Emraan) seems confused sometimes guilty and sometimes Clear about what he is doing, he is a Victim of the same system so he is clear about what he is doing and later when a student suicides due to him he looks guilty, Emraan does complete justice to the character. Shreya Dhanwantary has a very relevant role and got ample space to shine. Director Soumik Sen used our perception of how underplayed our female leads are and made a major plot twist with Shreya's character. The entire cast is very well picked and will truly make you believe their respective characters.
The work of director Soumik Sen is commendable, If just you ignore some minute cinematic liberties the director will totally treat you. The writing doesn't take a single side, keeps switching between System and Regards (Emraan). Cinematography and background scores are perfect with the tone of the movie. the movie seems a little stretched at times, editing could be a little better.
Verdict: it's worth a watch. Don't go with high expectations you would get Groundbreaking facts in the movie. It's a simple movie that projects the shortcomings of our education system to some extent.
