The protagonist of Super 30 is the version of all the iconic teachers of Cinema such as Ram Shankar Nikumbh (Taare Zameen Par), John Keating (Robin Williams) and Naina Mathur (Hichki), laced with Hrithik's not-so-comfortable Bihari accent and tanned make-up.

The story revolves around a Patna math whiz who makes complex concepts fun and accessible for under-privileged IIT aspirants, who is himself a socially and economically disadvantaged man who fought off prejudice and dreamt to achieve enviable academic success and turn around the fortunes of many others like him.

But the film is made in such a way that we couldn't connect with the characters especially Hrithik's character because it's hard to route for the protagonist who doesn't look anything like the real-life Anand Kumar, though it's appreciable that mainstream actor tried to come out of his comfort zone. And added like a pinch of salt is its overly simplistic and melodramatic screenplay.

The film is directed by Vikas Bahl who was accused of sexual misconduct tried smartly to prove his innocence has added a scene where a woman accuses Anand Kumar of the sexual misconduct. It is like the directed wanted to tell the audience indirectly that the sexual misconduct charges that were heaped on him in the height of the MeToo movement. And this scene doesn't work at all.

Super 30 fails to draw the audience into the world of the characters that it champions because it merely skims the surface of a massive mound of tangled issues.

The film definitely touched the class discrimination but it looked like spoon-feeding the audience and downtrodding the elite class terming them as 'ye ameer log' (these rich people).

Director of photography Anay Goswami does his best to provide a tinge of tangibility to the fake settings. Super 30 has been shot on studio sets rather than on real locations, so do not look for the real sights and smells of Patna. That is one of the major problems with Super 30 which I mentioned before: it tells a true story but it never rings true. Nothing in the film is less convincing than the lead performance. The idea to tannHrithik Roshan so that he can impersonate Anand Kumar is anything but super: it is a formula that equals zero.

The other actors such as Aditya Srivastava and Pankaj Tripathy are utterly wasted, its sad to see these bunch of brilliant actors is toned down be just a mere caricature.

Finally, Super 30 is just a formulaic film which tries to cash on an aged old plot of the story of an underdog which not always work.
