Laxmii Movie Review: An UNBEARABLE HAM FEST!

Modified On: 10 November 2020 | Reviewed By:

Akshay Kumar's one of the worst films to date. All the actors in the film were competing with each other for who is best in hamming. The only actor who took his role seriously was Sharad Kelkar..

Laxmii the film which was earlier Laxmmi Bomb and that's the only change in the film rest everything was what we expected after watching the trailer. Over the top acting, pathetic dialogues for eg. Baba baba Vaishnavi Ka Dhaba which will shame even Baba Sehgal. and badly written screenplay.

The story of the film is somewhat the same from the original Tamil film Kanchana (2011). An inter-religion couple Asif(Akshay Kumar) and Rashmi(Kiara Advani) who are living there life happily. Rashmi who is a Hindu girl is not in touch with her parents for 3 years due to her marriage are invited by her mother on their 25th marriage anniversary.

The couple goes to Rashmi's parent's house which is next to the haunted area where Laxmii(Sharad Kelkar) the transexual female's spirit is possessed. Then after a bunch of unnecessary sequences, Laxmii enters into Asif's body because she has something to avenge.

The film has a bunch of loopholes, do we even care? Such as there is a particular scene where Asif's body possed by two more spirits which have no significance to the plot, the even don't try hard to explain who are they.

The songs in the film are so misplaced that at one point you will feel its a Youtube ad. The makers have forgotten that the film is released on OTT. Here no one is going to whistle or throw coins on the screen.

But the saddest part of the film is the film was aggressively promoted as the story of transsexuals but that was just a marketing gimmick. The hypocrisy of this film is that one point we have shown a transsexual woman has achieved something in her life and next we see much of transexual dancing and drinking bhang. This film was just to show Akshay Kumar in a different light but the makers forgot that sensitive topic doesn't fit for your commercial purpose. Sharad kelkar who comes in a special appearance is the only good thing in this film. He does his job sincerely and the only actor in the film who took his role seriously and Kiara Advani...Is she there in the film..Oh yeah Songs.

Laxmii has a bunch of talented actors such as Manu Rishi (Sad to see him in this film) and Rajesh Sharma completely wasted. At some point, you will feel that even these actors lost interest in this movie while acting. Ashwini Kelskar has done crossed all the barometers of overacting. her acting reminded me a dialogue from Akshay Kumar's Hera Pheri pachass paise kaat iske overacting ka.

Even Akshay Kumar is plagued with ham and over the top tone of the screenplay.

Anyways this year was miserable but that doesn't mean you have to make it worse watching Laxmii. So, this festive season stay away from the bomb and this Laxmii.
