Kotigobba 2 had an entertaining storyline which was a cat-and-mouse game between Sudeep and P Ravi Shankar. The threequel of the franchise takes forward the story, which is credited to Sudeep. The story is entertaining, predictable in parts, but manages to ensure it is paisa vasool for the audience. The film has just what one would expect from Sudeep, in his signature style.
The story goes international this time and, on the whole, the stunts there do not disappoint. There are drifting and chasing sequences, as well as some high-octane fights. There's also some sentiment seen in a flashback episode, as well as a sweet romantic track. The film is well under two-and-a-half hours, which makes it a breezy watch. The dialogues are witty.
Sudeep steals the show in a performance that cannot but make you root for him in every scene. Madonna Sebastian makes a good debut. P Ravi Shankar carries forth his performance from the second part with aplomb. Aftab Shivdasani, who makes his debut in Sandalwood, is apt for his role, though one wishes there could have been someone better dubbing for him. Nawab Shah makes for a good antagonist. Abhirami delivers a powerful comeback and Ashika Ranganath sizzles in her special number.
Kotigobba 3 is a pucca commercial film, and reinvents many ingredients which is its biggest attraction. The editing is clean and seamless, with the cinematography and music complementing it. Shivakarthik proves that he can handle a star vehicle with a good debut. Kotigobba 3 does not disappoint fans of the masala film genre, with a more classy than ‘massy’ approach.
