The Plot:

Satyabhama Anand (Alia Bhatt) is a fiercely devoted sister on a mission to save her younger brother, Ankur (Vedang Raina), who is wrongfully sentenced to death for drug possession while studying in Malaysia. After Ankur's cousin escapes the consequences, Satyabhama learns of her brother's dire situation and is determined to bring him back home. She partners with Bhatia (Manoj Pahwa), a retired gangster with a son in prison, and Muthu (Rahul Ravindran), a former cop, to devise a daring escape plan. As Satyabhama and her allies work to orchestrate the jailbreak, viewers are left wondering whether they can outsmart the high-security prison and reunite the siblings.

Jigra Movie Review:

Directed by Vasan Bala, this gripping prison break thriller explores the lengths a sister will go to rescue her wrongfully imprisoned brother, delivering a potent blend of action and emotional depth. The film’s cinematography and soundtrack are nothing short of world-class, creating an immersive experience that’s truly worthy of the big screen. The last few minutes are particularly riveting, ensuring that audiences remain on the edge of their seats.

Alia Bhatt delivers what could be her career-best performance as Satyabhama Anand, a fiercely determined sister fighting against all odds. Her portrayal shines, especially during the intense action sequences. Supported by a stellar cast that includes Manoj Pahwa as Bhatia and Vedang Raina as Ankur, the performances are both compelling and engaging, with Pahwa standing out in his role, complementing Bhatt’s lead beautifully.

While Jigra kicks off as a fast-paced thriller, it does experience a mid-film shift that manipulates emotional tones, which may not resonate with all viewers. Some plot points feel overly convenient, and there are moments where the emotional connection between the siblings could have been developed more effectively. Despite these drawbacks, the film successfully keeps the audience engaged.

The background score by Achint Thakkar elevate the film. However, the screenplay could benefit from tighter editing, as certain scenes feel prolonged, leaving viewers restless.
