Jagame Thandhiram appears to be an eager film about outsider legislative issues. Shockingly, what it winds up being, notwithstanding its promising reason, is a convoluted hoodlum show about a nearby hooligan, Suruli from Madurai, played easily by Dhanush.
“In IT companies, they conduct a yearly group discussion,” begins Vicky, a software testing lead. We cut to a conference in London where a bunch of techies are sitting around a table looking at a white man pointing to a whiteboard that says, “Q1 Appraisal Group Discussion. Gangster in Tamil Nadu”. Vicky explains that his promotion and increment depends on what he can say about the worst gangster they know. Vicky speaks of Suruli. We cut back to Madurai, where Vicky is inviting Suruli to return to London with him to help a big English gangster take on another Tamil gangster.
Jagame Thandhiram opens in London, where a vital individual from a neighborhood group, headed by a man named Peter, is killed by an individual from an adversary pack, headed by Sivadoss, a migrant from Sri Lanka who is steadily reinforcing his grasp over the city. Peter utilizes Suruli (who gets an exhibition satisfying presentation stretch in Madurai) to help him deal with Sivadoss.
At almost three hours in length, the film is a task to endure. Jagame Thandhiram never views itself pretentiously, yet it needs to talk about some squeezing issues, similar to the condition of migrants, especially the Sri Lankan Tamils who're battling to be acknowledged in Britain. This is an honourable thought, however why bother having a good thought when a film can't keep you contributed for the vast majority of its running time.
Notwithstanding Dhanush's sincere endeavours, Suruli isn't somebody you can undoubtedly pull for. He has all the earmarks of being generally egotistical, and everything necessary to change him into a seriously charming character is one tragic account about the Tamils in Sri Lanka. Karthik Subbaraj attempted to pull a Kabali with Dhanush yet he baffles, for sure.
