Dhak Dhak Movie Review: A Wholesome And Visually Appealing Tale Of Adventure And Self-Discovery
Modified On: 14 October 2023 | Reviewed By: Team MoviekoopStoryline: Dhak Dhak is the story of the coming together of four ordinary women bikers group and their journey of riding together from Delhi to Khardung La in Ladakh, the highest motorable pass in the world, popularly touted as the tirth (pilgrimage) of bikers.
Review: The movie "Dhak Dhak" is a refreshing motorcycle adventure emphasising the journey over the destination. The film introduces viewers to a diverse set of protagonists, directed and written by Tarun Dudeja, with co-writer Parijat Joshi. Sky, played by Fatima Sana Shaikh, is a motorcycle reviewer and influencer trying to overcome a scandalous social media image. Manpreet (Mahi), portrayed by Ratna Pathak Shah, is a grandmother, and Uzma, played by Dia Mirza, is an unappreciated homemaker. Manjari, a girl from Mathura, is preparing to marry a stranger chosen by her mother. The story revolves around their experiences and misadventures as they embark on a transformative journey.
The film's first half touches on biases against female drivers or riders, the lack of safety for women, and the way they are taken for granted. However, it gains momentum and excitement once the characters hit the road. The cinematography by Sreechith Vijayan Damodar effectively captures the scenic beauty of the mountains and the challenges they face on the journey.
The characters in the film offer life lessons through simplicity and memorable dialogues. The narrative mirrors the unpredictability of real-life journeys, where the destination is known, but the events along the way remain uncertain. The movie also provides moments of laughter, particularly through the shenanigans of Mahi and Manjari. The soundtrack, especially the folk-rock title track "Banjara Re" by Rishi Dutta, adds to the upbeat feel of the film.
The cast's performances, including Ratna Pathak Shah, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Dia Mirza, and Sanjana Sanghi, are outstanding in their respective roles.
"Dhak Dhak" is a wholesome and visually appealing tale of adventure and self-discovery, emphasising the joy of the journey. The movie is a must-watch for its storytelling, visual appeal, and overall cinematic experience, best enjoyed on the big screen.
