Review
I have watched the original movie 'Ode To My Father ' soon after the trailer of Bharath released and was moved by its emotional plotline. This story could have been adapted to any country with war history i.e. every country. At the core of it, The movie tries to showcase the trauma faced by civilians with an entertainment quotient. But, in Bharath, the image of Salman khan dominates everything.
The movie opens up with a usual introduction shot of Salman, laying 75-year-old Bharath, who is refusing to sell his shop to a Builder and then we dwell into a flashback about why. His father promised him he'll to that shop during separation and Bharath didn't want to lose the landmark. later we see the journey of Bharath to fulfil his part of the promise he made to his father, to take care of his family. in one scene Bharath himself articulates his life as a dream, from the circus to the middle east to the merchant navy.

The movie fells short on its claim of "Journey of a man and nation together", The screenplay is totally adopted from the Korean movie, so selectively covers or relates to the history of India that could fit in the screenplay, also the 'Ode of my father' doesn't claim to show the history of a nation perhaps this thought is inspired by another movie 'Forest Gump'. The only time the screenplay was tweaked from the original was to fit in the image of Salman Khan. Indeed Only scenes that are lifted from the original make the movie meaningful and one place where the writing totally derails is due to the binary choices of Bharath. He has to always make a choice by abandoning the other option, like circus or brother's life, marriage or family and the stakes aren't shown so high ever to make a binary choice. Either that is a conscientious choice to add melodramatic tone or so-called cinematic liberty only the makers can say.
Verdict
Interestingly, More than Sunil Grover, Katrina Kaif adds delight to the comedy track. her sarcastic replies to Salman makes their chemistry shine out! Bharath is a must watch for their screen presence and primarily for the Aura of Salman Khan who drives the complete show! moreover, the movie doesn't bore you at all.
