Modified On: 15 November 2024 | Reviewed By: Team MoviekoopBhairathi Ranagal Movie Review: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ ★ | Bhairathi Ranagal is a powerful prequel that explores the transformation of an idealistic lawyer into a feared yet righteous gangster, with Dr. Shivarajkumar delivering a commanding performance. Director Narthan blends intense action, gripping drama, and a compelling narrative for a lasting impact.
Storyline:
The story begins with a fire engine on its way to an emergency, but it crashes in Ronapur village, where villagers desperately fill their containers with water, highlighting their struggle for basic resources. Bhairathi Ranagal is introduced as a prisoner, with protests erupting outside his jail. As he reads the Ramayana in his cell, the scene hints at the intense journey ahead. Flashing back to 1985, a young Bhairathi persistently sought help from government officials to provide drinking water to his community, but his pleas went unanswered. Overcome with frustration and desperation, Bhairathi took matters into his own hands, resorting to drastic measures by planting bombs in a government building, which soon landed him in serious trouble and is sentenced to over 20 years in prison. After his release, now a law graduate, he starts helping the poor as a lawyer but eventually becomes a gangster, driven by his desire to fight for his people.
Bhairathi Rangal Movie Review:
Set against the harsh realities of Ronapur village in the 1980s, the film wastes no time setting its gritty tone with an arresting opening scene. The imagery of a parched village scrambling for water from a fire engine is a stark reminder of societal neglect. The arrival of Bhairathi Ranagal, whose mere presence fuels protests and whose reading of the Ramayana hints at the duality of his character, sends chills down the spine.
The first half establishes Bhairathi as a man of principles, a lawyer committed to justice for the downtrodden. But the turning point comes when the desperation of oppressed miners and the greed of a ruthless baron push him to the edge. The interval block, a cinematic explosion of emotion and power, is a standout moment, leaving the audience in awe of Shivanna's magnetic screen presence.
In the second half, Bhairathi evolves from advocate to gangster, gaining control of the mining areas. His growing influence challenges Parande's (played by Rahul Bose) power, leading to an escalating rivalry over the iron-rich region of Ronapura.
Ravi Basrur’s score intensifies every moment, adding a raw energy that complements Naveen’s stunning cinematography. The action sequences, choreographed by Chethan D’Souza, are gripping yet grounded, showcasing the unrelenting resolve of Bhairathi as he battles for his people.
Narthan’s direction shines in the carefully crafted character arcs. Shivarajkumar embodies Bhairathi’s charisma, layering vulnerability beneath his ruthless exterior. His intense performance is complemented by the strong support of actors like Rahul Bose and Avinash, who bring complexity to the antagonistic forces Bhairathi faces. Rukmini Vasanth and Chaya Singh shine in their limited roles, adding emotional depth to the narrative.
Verdict:
Bhairathi Ranagal is more than a prequel; it’s a testament to the enduring charisma of Shivarajkumar and Narthan's ability to craft an engaging tale of rebellion and redemption. Whether you’re a fan of Mufti or new to this universe, this film promises a cinematic experience that is intense, emotional, and unforgettable.
