Umamahesh Marpu's Vanchana is a gripping courtroom drama filled with intense emotions

Marpu’s journey into filmmaking began after he completed his degree in mechanical engineering and enrolled in a film institute to study direction. His initial experiences included directing short films and working as an assistant director (AD) for a feature film, where he handled both pre-production and production tasks.

The story of Vanchana emerged during the end of the pandemic. Marpu shared the concept with his mother, Gowri Marpu, who encouraged him to develop it further and supported the project as a producer. He dedicated seven months to pre-production, meticulously planning elements such as storyboarding and location scouting. The film was shot across various locations in India, including Vizag, Vizianagaram, Hyderabad, Delhi, and the ghats of Araku and Paderu, to add authenticity to the story's setting.

Vanchana is described as a gripping courtroom drama with a powerful, story-driven narrative that stays focused on a sensitive subject without unnecessary diversions. The cast features seasoned actors like Surya Bhagvandas, Rajendra, RK Naidu, and prominent theater artists, enhancing the depth and intensity of the storytelling.
