Sekhar Kammula’s Love Story pre-release event was a star-studded one with Megastar Chiranjeevi and Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan as the chief guests. The whole cast and crew, including lead actors Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi, turned up at a star hotel to celebrate the film’s theatrical release with COVID-19 restrictions in place.

Aamir Khan, who’s sharing screen space with Chaitanya in Lal Singh Chaddha, said he’s looking forward to watch Love Story in theatres. “Shooting with Chai has been such a wonderful experience. I feel like I have known him for years although we met only recently. When I saw the trailer of this film, I liked it so much, I wanted to be here and tell his parents and fans all about him.”

Tollywood star Chiranjeevi was also impressed. While he showered praise on Chaitanya and the makers of Love Story, he reserved special mention for the leading lady Sai Pallavi. “When Sai Pallavi danced to Vachinde, I was so mesmerised I didn’t even notice Varun Tej in the frame. I would love to dance with her too,” Chiranjeevi said. Sai Pallavi readily obliged, by grooving along with the Megastar for his trademark move in Ammadu Let’s Do Kummudu. She also danced to her hit song Saranga Dariya.

Naga Chaitanya, meanwhile, said he was delighted to expand his horizon as an actor with this film. “No character of mine has influenced me as much as Revanth (protagonist of this film) did. I love Sekhar’s style of working and I’m glad the producers held on to the film to release it only in theatres,” he said.

“As a filmmaker I believe films are obligated to society. While Love Story is a romantic drama, it will also have a hero from a marginalised community and a heroine who faces gender disparity. This film has been a three-year-long journey with ups-and-downs all through,” said Sekhar Kammula.
