RRR's 'Naatu Naatu' has won the ‘Best Original Song’ title at 2023’s Golden Globe Awards. But SS Rajmouli’s RRR is not done with creating history just yet. The hit record has also been nominated for ‘Best Original Song’ at 2023’s Oscars. The 95th Academy Awards will be announced on 13th March 2023.

It is composed by M. M. Keeravani and written by Chandrabose. The song has been sung by Kala Bhairava and Rahul Sipligunj.

The fellow nominees of the song include Rihanna’s Lift Me Up and Hold My Hand by Lady Gaga. The number was choreographed by PremRakshith. It took 20 days to complete shooting the song, after 30 days of rehearsals. Junior N.T.R said in an interview “He used to record the whole thing, replay it, freeze every frame to observe how our legs, hands and feet were moving. If there was even the slightest difference, we would do a retake. He wanted us to be in perfect sync. It took some 18 retakes before we finally got it right.” The song was shot in Ukraine. The director said “Actually, it is the Ukrainian President Zelensky’s palace. It is known as the Mariinskyi Palace. There is a Parliament right beside the palace. Luckily, they gave us permission to shoot because the Ukrainian president was once a television actor.”

Despite the negative critical remarks the song has received, it continues to make history all over the globe. It has made a name for itself and India in the western arena. It’s quite exciting to anticipate that the song will bag yet another accolade on an international level. The Oscars are being streamed on Disney+ Hotstar among OTT platforms. It is also streamed live on Star World as well as Star Movies channels. Indians can watch it on 14th March, 5:30 AM IST.
