According to multiple reports, the story of Naarappa, directed by Srikanth Addala is set in Ananthapuram. Rumors are rife that the film is loosely based on the Karamchedu massacre which happened in 1985. During the incident, Dalits and Kammas landlords were involved in a tussle which resulted in the death of 6 Dalits.
However, the makers have not shed light on whether Naarappa is based on the Karamchedu massacre. Venkatesh's home production house, Suresh Production along with Asuran's producer Kalaipuli S Thanu are jointly bankrolling this venture.
