Mahesh Babu took to social media to express his happiness on Maharshi bagging Best Popular Film For Providing Wholesome Entertainment at the 67th National Film Award, which was announced on March 22. Maharshi released in theatres in 2019 and went on to become a super-hit venture.
After Maharshi won in two categories at the 67th National Film Awards, Mahesh Babu took to Twitter to express his happiness. He wrote that Maharshi will always remain special in his career and added that he is proud of Vamsi Paidipally.
He wrote, "#NationalFilmAwards Honoured and humbled to have received this prestigious recognition!! #Maharshi will always remain special. Proud of @directorvamshi for bringing a socially relevant story to light. Big thank you to the jury, the entire team of Maharshi and our audience (sic)."

Mahesh Babu also congratulated Raju Sundaram, who won the National Award for Best Choreography in the film. "Best Choreography for Maharshi!! A well-deserved win for #RajuSundaram!! Many congratulations (sic)," his tweet read.

Maharshi, directed by Vamsi Paidipally, starred Mahesh Babu, Pooja Hegde and Allari Naresh in lead roles. The film graced the theatres on May 9 and became one of the best films of that year.
The film revolves around the life of a rich businessman (played by Mahesh Babu) who returns to a village to patch up with his classmate (played by Allari Naresh). He then learns about his friend's struggles and becomes the saviour of the masses.
