Guntur Kaaram Storyline: The story begins when Ramana (Mahesh Babu) is separated from his mother, Vasundhara Reddy (Ramya Krishnan), at age 10.Ramana grows up with his paternal family in Guntur, while Vasundhara returns to Hyderabad and enters politics. Years later, Ramana is involved in the chili business and manages a warehouse in Guntur The story unfolds when Ramana is asked to sign papers stating he will have nothing to do with his mother, her wealth, or political aspirations.
Review: Guntur Kaaram directed by Trivikram Srinivas and starring Mahesh Babu, Sreeleela, and Meenakshi Chaudhary, falls short of expectations. Despite being highly anticipated, the movie has an unconvincing storyline and superficial emotional depth.
Trivikram's attempt to blend family drama with commercial elements is in a disjointed narrative, failing to excel as either an emotional drama or a full-fledged entertainer. The dialogues are a mixed bag, with some impactful while others miss the mark. The light-hearted comedy scenes with Mahesh Babu, Sreeleela, and Vennela Kishore do provide occasional amusement.
Mahesh Babu's dynamic performance as Vyra Venkata Ramana Reddy is a glimmer of appeal for his fans. Sreeleela's portrayal of Amutya aka Ammu is praised for her dance skills and stunning appearance, but the romantic subplot is lacking chemistry. Meenakshi Chaudhary, playing the character Raji, has limited screen time. The ensemble cast, including Ramya Krishna, Jayaram, Prakash Raj, Jagapathi Babu, Vennela Kishore, Rao Ramesh, Easwari Rao, Murali Sharma, Sunil, Rahul Ravindran, is acknowledged for delivering commendable performances.
S Thaman's music and background score mirrors the film's inconsistency, with some issues noted in sound mixing resulting in uneven output. Cinematographer Manoj Paramahamsa is praised for impressive camera work, especially with continuous follow-through shots, but the overall editing is deemed to need improvement.
In conclusion, Guntur Kaaram is a film with contrasting qualities. While Mahesh Babu's vibrant performance is a highlight, the movie is struggling to weave these elements into a cohesive and emotionally impactful narrative. Despite striking cinematography and engaging moments of humor, the lack of depth in the story leaves the audience wanting more.
