'Thalaivi', a biopic on politician and former CM of Tamil Nadu. Jayalalithaa, will go on floors in October.
Kangana Ranaut will be playing the former chief minister of Tamil Nadu.
According to the latest report, Thalaivi's shooting will commence sometime in the first week of October. The shooting of Thalaivi will begin in Mysuru and then continue in Chennai. In an interview, one of the producers Shaailesh R Singh opened up about the film's progress.
He told the daily, "The film has entered pre-production. Most of the technicians are on board. Kangana has gone back to Manali to begin her prep. She’s learning everything from Tamil diction to classical dance. We are set to roll from the first week of October."
The Tamil-Hindi bilingual will have the story written by Baahubali writer KV Vijayendra Prasad and Rahul Arora. It is said that the makers have roped in Tamil and Hindi actors to be part of Jayalalithaa's biopic.
In an earlier interview, director AL Vijay and producer Vishnu Vardhan Induri said that Kangana Ranaut is the perfect choice to play J Jayalalithaa in the film. In an interview to a daily, Vijay said, "This is a pan-Indian film, and Kangana is apt for the role. She is one of the biggest stars in India today and I think it is right that a top star plays the role of an important politician. We consider this a pan-Indian film, not a regional one. There was a lot of discussions before the decision was made to cast Kangana; we met several people as well."
Kangana has also started learning Tamil for her role in the film. She will undergo a one-month workshop to get into the skin of the workshop. "I think a leader of Jayalalithaa's stature cannot be limited to one region. She is a national leader and commands huge respect. Kangana is extremely excited about the project and wants to portray her with utmost honesty. She is learning Tamil for the film and will also be part of a one-month workshop to get into the character," Vijay stated.
