Soorarai Pottru: Surya starrer enters 3rd round of Golden Globe Awards

Surya fans were in cloud nine when they heard that his recent film Soorarai Pottru has joined the Oscar race. Now, the latest report is that the film has entered the 3rd round of Golden Globe Awards. Reports suggest that the panel members of the Golden Globe Awards are impressed with the film and it has been selected for the next level of screening. Soorarai Pottru competes in all categories including Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Director, Best Composer and Best Writer.

However, only if the film gets selected at this level, it can make it to the final nomination to bag the award. A couple of days back, Rajasekar Pandiya, who is a co-producer of Soorarai Pottru, revealed on social media that the film is in the Oscar race under the General Category in Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Director, Best Original Score and several other categories.

Directed by Sudha Kongara, the film has Suriya and Aparna Balamurali as the lead actors. Soorarai Pottru is based on the life of Air Deccan CEO Gopinath. Originally, the film was planned for a summer 2020 release. However, it did not happen owing to the ongoing COVID 19. It had a direct release on the OTT platform, Amazon Prime. It has also been co-produced by Suriya and Guneet Monga, and GV Prakash has composed music. The film received a tremendous review from fans across the country. Celebrities including Abhishek Bachchan and Mahesh Babu lauded the cast and crew.
