Promo videos in Indian cinema have never been the same since director Nelson and composer Anirudh Ravichander redefined the art of movie announcements.
From the legendary promos of Doctor, Beast, and Jailer to the unforgettable reveal of Thalaivar 169—which evolved into the blockbuster Jailer—this duo has consistently set new benchmarks. Now, teaming up again with Sun Pictures, they’ve made a grand Pongal announcement: the much-anticipated return of Muthuvel 'Tiger' Pandian in Jailer 2.
The announcement video, screened simultaneously in theaters across the country, exudes the signature Nelson-Anirudh charm. Set in a beach house in Goa, the video begins with the duo bantering as only they can. Nelson jokes about Anirudh's endless string of releases, while Anirudh teases Nelson for not directing a film in “five cyclones.” Just as they decide to relax further, chaos erupts—windows shatter, glass breaks, and doors fly open. Henchmen scatter as the unmistakable silhouette of Indian cinema, Rajinikanth, makes his grand entrance. The iconic "Hukum" number from Jailer swells in the background, setting the stage for the official announcement of Jailer 2.
Produced by Kalanithi Maran's Sun Pictures, details about the cast and crew remain under wraps. Fans are speculating whether Vijay Kartik Kannan, the cinematographer who created magical visuals for Jailer, will return. Questions also abound about the involvement of stars like Shivarajkumar, Mohanlal, and Jackie Shroff, or if new faces will join this stellar lineup.
With Nelson and Anirudh back in action, and Rajinikanth reprising his role as Tiger Pandian, Jailer 2 promises to be yet another cinematic spectacle that fans cannot wait to experience.
