‘Pushpa: The Rise’ was released in theatres in December 2021 in five different languages. The movie was a blockbuster hit and was later premiered on OTT just a couple of days ago.

COVID restrictions in place in Tamil Nadu, the theatres are allowed to only have a 50% capacity, and this made the much-expected big film in Tamil – Ajith’s ‘Valimai’ to be postponed indefinitely. Other big movies like ‘RRR’ and ‘Radhe Shyam’ which were to be released in theatres across different states were also postponed for the same reason.

Now, with the theatres in Tamil Nadu not witnessing any big releases, reportedly the distributors of the film ‘Pushpa: The Rise’ have decided to re-release the movie in theatres in Tamil Nadu, hoping that ‘Pushpa’ might bring in a little audience to theatres back again. The movie was re-released on Friday, January 21 in about 50 theatres.

‘Pushpa: The Rise’ is directed by Sukumar and it features Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil in the lead roles. The movie is based on the lives of smugglers of the red sandalwood in the Seshachalam hills at Andhra Pradesh and the movie is set in the 1980s-1990s.
