Mani Ratnam plans to re-shoot few sequences for 'Ponniyin Selvan 2'

Director Mani Ratnam has revealed that the second part of the film will be released on April 28, 2023. It was earlier announced that shooting for the sequel has also been completed, however, now new reports suggest that the director has decided to retake a few crucial scenes that are to be in the part 2 of the movie.

According to reports, a few new scenes will be shot for the ‘Ponniyin Selvan 2’ and it is said that the shooting schedule will go on for up to 7 to 10 days. The production work for the sequel ‘Ponniyin Selvan 2’ began in October and it is now likely that post edits, the director has planned to retake a few scenes.

‘Ponniyin Selvan 1’ was released in theatres on September 30 and the film made a gross of more than Rs 500 crore at the box office. The movie featured Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as the leads and Sarathkumar, Prakash Raj, Parthiban, Sobhita Dhulipala, Aishwarya Lekshmi among others in important roles. The music for the film is composed by AR Rahman.
