Despite their religious differences, they live harmoniously. Thiru's father (Livingston) and Shamsuddin's father, Moideen Bhai (enacted by Rajinikanth), share a close friendship and witness their sons' occasional conflicts.
Meanwhile, local politicians plot to exploit religious tensions in Murrabad for electoral gain. They manipulate the rivalry between Thiru and Shamsuddin, orchestrating a cricket match.
