In his 50th project 'Maharaja' Vijay Sethupathi waived his remuneration

The Tamil film Maharaja, released on June 14, has achieved blockbuster success, grossing over Rs 100 crore at the box office. Besides performing exceptionally well in Tamil Nadu, the movie also saw impressive box office collections in Kerala, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh. Due to its success, there are plans to remake the film in Hindi.
Directed by Nithilan Swaminathan, Maharaja is notable for being the 50th project of actor Vijay Sethupathi. The film also stars Natty Nataraj, Anurag Kashyap, and Mamta Mohandas. It was produced with a budget of Rs 20 crore, and Sethupathi notably chose to forgo his remuneration to keep costs down, instead receiving a share of the film’s box office profits.
On the horizon for Vijay Sethupathi is the release of Viduthalai 2, directed by Vetrimaaran. The film has completed shooting and is currently in post-production, with an expected release by the end of the year. Additionally, Sethupathi has several upcoming projects, including Gandhi Talks, Ace, Train, and RC 16, each at various stages of production.
