After Indian 2 setback, Kamal Haasan’s Indian 3 reportedly set for direct OTT release

Kamal Haasan's Indian 2 underperformed at the box office upon its release earlier this year, which may have influenced the decision to pursue a direct OTT release for Indian 3, the third installment in the vigilante franchise. Recent reports suggest this strategy is a response to the lack of buzz surrounding the film and the financial losses incurred from Indian 2.

According to a report, the makers opted for an OTT release as a way to recover from the setbacks faced after Indian 2, which not only impacted Haasan's reputation but also posed financial challenges for Lyca Productions. The production company is actively seeking ways to recover its losses, and the planned release of Indian 3 on Netflix is a part of this effort.

Although there has been no official confirmation from the film’s team, it appears the makers have lost faith in the franchise and are looking for alternatives. The filming of Indian 2 and Indian 3 was plagued by delays, including a serious on-set accident and rumored creative disputes between Haasan and director Shankar. Despite his strong fan base, Indian 2 failed to resonate with audiences, both in theaters and on OTT platforms. 

Similarly, The Test, another much-anticipated project, is also believed to follow the same route, although further details are yet to emerge. Fans are eagerly awaiting official updates on both films.
