Megastar Mammootty plays a cop in the film who leads his team to do election duty in a Naxal prone area.
Directed by Khalid Rahman, Unda is an action comedy that is bankrolled by Moviee Mill's Krishnan Sethukumar and Gemini Studios. It is co-written by Khalid and Harshad.
The film has Mammootty playing a police officer, with Shine Tom Chacko, Jacob Gregory, Arjun Ashokan and Omkar Das Manikpuri in supporting roles. Asif Ali, Vinay Forrt, and Sudhi Koppa will be seen making cameo appearances in this film.
Unda is about a team of policemen headed by Mammootty’s character sent to the Naxal prone areas in Chhattisgarh for election duty.
The trailer shows that the policemen have less protection which can lead them into danger and how they protect the election duty from Naxal with these difficulties will be the crux of the film.
A few years back, Hindi film Newton was also based on the election duty in a Naxal prone area. The film was lauded with immense praise and officially selected from India for Oscars.
The film was supposed to be planned for an Eid release on June 6th but postponed to June 14th due to incomplete post-production.
Besides Unda, Mammootty also has Pathinettaam Padi, Ganagandharvan, and Maamaankam scheduled for release this year.
