Mohanlal being the president of AMMA(Association of Malayalam Movie Artists) had taken the liberty of decision to call upon actor Dileep to be reinstated back into the actor’s governing film body.
100+ Members of the acting fraternity have stepped up against the fact that crime-hit actor Dileep was reinstated to be a part of the AMMA film body. "If the politicians elected by the general public and who are part of AMMA, continue in the organisation despite it taking an anti-women stance, it would mean that they support it. Instead, if they do not endorse AMMA's stand, we hope that they will voluntarily step down and fulfill their social responsibility to the general public and the women who elected them" said a statement.
Multitudes of actors, directors, producers, technicians and politician-cum-actor came to the forefront to voice their thoughts on this issue and has demanded for the head executives of the film body to step down. They hands in support to the survivor of the incident.
Dr. Biju an artist who has won a National Award as director, in an statement to the Kerala Government board appealed that Mohanlal should not be considered to be invited as a chief guest to the Kerala State Award presentation and distribution function.
It was only in this June that Mohanlal was elected as the new President of AMMA and in not too long of a course, the committee was open to having Dileep to rejoin the association after his membership was revoked after the incident of him being involved in a case of sexual assault of a female colleague. The decision led to wide and rapid disagreement and heat within the association.
