Mammootty’s ‘Oru CBI Diary Kurippu’ clocks 34 years

It was 34 years back that the first movie of the superhit CBI series, titled ‘Oru CBI Diary Kurippu’ was released. The movie marked the arrival of the iconic investigation office character Sethurama Iyer CBI played by the legendary actor Mammootty.
As the movie, ‘Oru CBI Diary Kurippu’ clocks 34 years, the director K Madhu took to his official Instagram handle to share a picture with Mammootty and the scriptwriter SN Swamy. Sharing the picture, the ‘CBI’ series director penned a heartwarming note that read, “34 years of Oru CBI Diary Kurippu. The team remains vibrant and rocking as ever. New clues, New findings. New genres. The beginning of a new challenge. On the sets. Ready to roll!.”
The CBI series comprised the films ‘Oru CBI Diary Kurippu’, ‘Jagratha’, ‘Sethurama Iyer CBI’ and ‘Nerariyan CBI’ which were released in the years 1988, 1989, 2004, and 2005 respectively. The films were directed by K Madhu under the script penned down by the writer SN Swamy.
The shoot of the upcoming fifth installment of the CBI series is reportedly going in full swing. The project is tentatively titled ‘CBI 5’.It is scripted by SN Swamy and the cinematography is done by Akhil George. The music composer Jakes Bejoy will be reprising the iconic CBI background score which was originally composed by Shyam.
‘CBI 5’ features actors Mammootty, Asha Sarath, Sai Kumar, Renji Panicker, Soubin Shahir, Dileesh Pothan, and Kaniha. As per the reports, actor Jagathy Sreekumar will be also reprising his role as the CBI officer Vikram.
