Prithviraj Sukumaran Unveils First Look of 'L2 - Empuraan': Delving Deeper into Lucifer's Sequel
L2 - Empuraan, the second film in the Lucifer series, is anticipated as an action thriller. Serving as both a prequel and a sequel to the 2019 film Lucifer, it is directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, who also reprises his role as Zayed Masood.
Prithviraj Sukumaran, a highly talented actor in the Malayalam film industry, made his directorial debut in 2019 with the film Lucifer, featuring Mohanlal in the lead role. With over two decades and more than a hundred films to his credit, Prithviraj showcased his versatility. The film hinted at a sequel, and after a patient four-year wait, the production of the much-anticipated film has commenced. The latest update unveils the first-look poster, providing a glimpse into the sequel titled L2 - Empuraan.

In Lucifer, Mohanlal's character, Stephen Nedumpally, was initially portrayed as a politician, but a mid-credits scene revealed his alter ego, Khureshi Ab’raam, supposedly the head of a global crime syndicate. The first-look poster of the sequel suggests a deeper exploration into this intriguing character. The poster depicts a war zone with Mohanlal standing amidst the ruins, holding a machine gun, and a fighter chopper landing among the wreckage, surrounded by partially burning trucks.
Empuraan is positioned as an action thriller, serving as both a prequel and sequel to the 2019 film Lucifer. Prithviraj Sukumaran not only directs the film but also reprises his role as Zayed Masood. The screenplay is penned by actor-director Murali Gopy and Manju Warrier. The sequel is expected to feature Tovino Thomas, Indrajith Sukumaran, Sai Kumar, Baiju Santhosh, and other prominent stars reprising their roles. The film's music is composed by Deepak Dev, with cinematography by Sujith Vasudegv. The first schedule has concluded, and the second is set to commence in January.
