Kannada film Thurthu Nirgamana, directed by Hemanth Kumar L, has raised the interest of cine-goers as it has a fantasy element to it, as shown in the trailer. The film, which marks actor Suneel Rao's comeback, releases on June 24. What is also unique about it is a one-of-a-kind 360-degree hyper-lapse shot that depicts travel through three days.
Hemanth says, "This shot was to depict how far one can go in three days and how quickly one can do it. We didn't want to depict three days of travel through montages. We wanted one 20-second shot that captured the entire time frame. I wanted this to be dynamic, with the camera to move 360 degrees around a character while he is moving in one direction."
The shot was broken down into two parts. The first was shot inside a studio and the other at live locations. "It was a mathematical task, to break the 360 degrees into three parts to depict the changing light over three days. We shot this with a green mat inside a studio, with the actors Suneel and Sudharani. We designed the lights around them to capture the changing lights seen in day and night," says Hemanth.
Thurthu Nirgamana is a coming-of-age fantasy drama, which revolves around the life (and death) of Vikram who gets an opportunity to relive the last 3 days of his life once again. What he accomplishes in these 3 days amidst all the magical realism moments, form the crux of the story.
