The unfortunate event took place in Suranagi village, Gadag district, where the fans were electrocuted while setting up a large birthday banner for the actor around midnight on Sunday. Three others sustained injuries during the incident.
The fans, hailing from Ambedkar Nagar, attempted to install a massive banner with a steel frame, unaware that it touched a high tension wire above the road, leading to the electrocutions. Two youths died instantly, and another succumbed to injuries at a hospital in Laxmeshwar town.
The victims were identified as Hanumanth Harijan (21), Murali Naduvinamani (20), and Naveen Gaji (19), with three others currently receiving medical treatment.
The tragedy unfolded in the dark, as the youths reportedly did not notice the high tension wire passing over the road. Actor Yash's birthday was scheduled for Monday.
Expressing condolences, Chief Minister Siddramaiah announced a compensation of ₹2 lakh each for the families of the deceased.
Upon learning of the incident, actor Yash traveled to Suranagi village to console the grieving families and meet the injured individuals. He urged his fans to prioritize safety over enthusiasm, emphasizing the need for responsible behavior and discouraging the practice of erecting banners.
