Review: In this Prerana Agarwal's directorial debutant film she intersperses a thriller with elements of documentary-style narrative, and a little relationship drama too. But she does not waver from the original tale, which ensures on can look at her as a promising voice who could deliver more and better in the future.

The film begins on a dramatic note with the introduction of Raghu, who is the son of Lalaji, who runs human trafficking operations in the city. He is on the way to make a deal with a Sheikh. Here, you get to see a snap of the protagonist, Rashmi. The story then traces how Rashmi goes missing and the investigation that go on thereafter. Then there is Ruchita, a journalist who is researching about trafficking, who also plays a key role in this case.

What works for Sold is its intent, the focus on the narrative and the team's belief in the subject, which shows in the kind of story that has been told. Kavya Shetty puts in an earnest effort as a journalist. Danish Sait seems to have little to do. Young Shivani is a revelation and does a good job, given that most of the story revolves around her. Deepam Kohli puts in his best, but one wishes his Kannada diction was better. Bhavani Prakash, Hanumanthe Gowda and Ugramm Manju deliver what is expected from them.

Sold deals with an uncomfortable topic and it has been given an A certificate. But the makers have ensured that one does not feel uncomfortable. Also, nothing has been unnecessarily sensationalised or dramatised.
