Rishab Shetty, after the phenomenal success of Kantara in 2022, is all set to continue the story with the sequel, Kantara: Chapter 1.
The original film, made on a modest budget of Rs 16 crore, went on to gross Rs 400 crore worldwide, earning Rishab praise for both his acting and direction. He won the National Award for Best Actor, while Kantara received the National Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment at the 70th National Film Awards.
One of the film's highlights was Rishab's dedication to the authenticity of his role. He performed the traditional Bhuta Kola dance himself, after extensive training, and personally executed the Kambala bull race sequence, which was shot over 24 hours without a body double.
For the upcoming sequel, Kantara: Chapter 1, Rishab is once again pushing his limits. He is undergoing rigorous training in Kalaripayattu, one of the oldest martial arts in the world. His intense year-long preparation reflects his commitment to delivering a high-caliber performance. He shared glimpses of his training on Instagram, showing him wielding a sword and shield, dressed in a dhoti and vest.
The teaser for the sequel, released in 2023, showcases a chiseled and bulked-up Rishab in a fierce, divine look, drenched in blood and gazing at the moon with intensity. The film is expected to release in early 2025, though an official release date is yet to be confirmed. Fans are eagerly awaiting the next chapter of this thrilling saga.
