Premam Poojyam (Kannada Romantic) is the first Indian film to be shot in Vietnam. The film, starring Prem and Brinda Acharya in lead roles, is set to release next week and promises to be a visual treat, especially the shots from the aesthetic locations of Vietnam.
Cinematographer Naveen Kumar says, “The challenges I had to face while shooting in Vietnam were light as the hilly locations where we were supposed to shoot were completely covered with mist. We somehow managed to play with the light and captured it beautifully. We also shot at waterfalls in Móng Cái, located at the China-Vietnam border, unexplored territory for filmmakers.”
Prem listened to more than 80 scripts before zeroing in on Premam Poojyam as his 25th film
Around 60 people visited Vietnam for the shoot, says Naveen. “There were no flights connecting certain locations, so we had to travel around 600 km by road which was an arduous task. As the weather was moderate, it helped us to stay refreshed and energetic.”
The story follows the protagonist's journey since his college days. The scenes move across hilly regions like Ooty, Kanyakumari, and the Himalayas to reflect the flow of the story.
The movie was earlier slated to come out in theatres on the 29th of October. However, owing to theatre availability and a few other factors, the makers had decided to push the release by two weeks. 'Premam Poojyam', as revealed by the team, shall be releasing worldwide in cinema halls on the 12th of November
