Renowned Kannada actor and former bureaucrat K. Shivaram passed away on Thursday at the age of 71.
Renowned bureaucrat-turned-actor K. Shivaram passed away on Thursday at the age of 71 after battling illness and undergoing treatment at HCG Hospital. His critical condition, which led to him being placed on a ventilator in the ICU, came as a shock to his fans and the Kannada film industry.
K. Shivaram made significant contributions both in the civil service and on the silver screen. He notably became the first Kannadiga to clear the IAS examination in Kannada. His career in the civil service spanned various regions including Vijayapura, Bengaluru, Mysuru, Koppala, and Davangere.
Transitioning to Kannada cinema, he made his debut in 'Ba Nalle Madhuchandrake' and garnered acclaim for his roles in films like 'Vasanta Kavya' and as a villain in 'Sangliana 3.'
After retiring in 2013, K. Shivaram ventured into politics, initially aligning with the Congress party. He contested for a Lok Sabha seat from the Vijayapura constituency in 2014, though unsuccessfully. Later, he shifted his political allegiance to the BJP while advocating for the rights of the Dalit community throughout his political journey.
