Director Suni's next 'Sakath' is all set for release, this Friday (26th Nov.2021). The film Starring Ganesh, promises to be a laugh riot. Testimony to this is its ensemble cast.

Suni tells us that he is glad he got to work with a big star cast, comprising actors who are proficient in comedy, as he sheds some light on what one can expect from the film.

"Every single actor has performed excellently. And, of course, there is Ganesh too, ensuring that there is enough laughter when you head to the cinema halls," he says.

"I consider this as my second innings in life. I am seeing a film release after three years. No matter how many times I watch the film, I feel nervous like it is my first film releasing, but I am also confident as the film is good and people who have seen it feel the same," shares the filmmaker.

about what led to the conceptualisation of the film and Suni reveals, "During the time of Operation Alamelamma, my associate director sent me an article about a physically challenged dancer who ended up having no issues with his feet. I took that element and worked towards this subject. When I approached Ganesh sir, I narrated two stories to him - Simpalag Ond Marriage Story and this subject which was, incidentally, called Chamak first. He liked the first story at that time and we used the title of this one for the film. It was later that we got together again for this subject and that’s how we have Sakath today."

The filmmaker and Ganesh have a good rapport, both professionally and personally. "There’s a small difference between working on Chamak and this film. I was a new technician Ganesh sir was working with then. He understood my style and temperament as we worked and I began to enjoy working with him as I am a fan of his comic timing. This was how our rapport grew. As for Sakath, Ganesh sir has been a part of the film right from the writing process till the time we got our first copy, just like an associate director would do. This shows our bond," he explains.

When asked about the research he did for his leads, he shares, "If we look at the teaser, Ganesh sir's character leaves one puzzled - whether he is blind or not. But Nishvika ma'am is actually visually challenged. We had to ensure the stark difference and authenticity too. I took videos of visually challenged singers near Shankar Math. Also, both my actors put in a lot of research and hard work and came prepared too."

Apart from Ganesh, Nishvika and newbie Surbhi, the film has a big ensemble cast. "I have to credit my producers KVN and Supreeth sir for having so many good actors in the cast. They encouraged me to think about a project that is larger than life. You name a talent and they are present here. So, it was good working with this big a cast the first time," says Suni, candidly.

The filmmaker guarantees good fun for anyone who watch Sakath. "Sakath is like full meals. I usually cater to one particular subject and stick to that. This has fun throughout, but along with that, there is an edge-of-the-seat courtroom drama, love story and commercial fight episodes. So, it makes it a film that everyone in the family can watch together, be it a child or elders in the family," adds Suni.

The filmmaker has Robin Hood, as well as a couple of other projects, at the discussion stage with Ganesh. Quiz him on his encouraging new talent and subjects and he says, "I began as a producer. I understand films in that way. Hence, I feel happy when any film does well. When people start flocking to watch films and good films get made, it becomes a healthy cycle that will ensure the industry does well eventually."
