Actor and Director Rishab Shetty has taken significant strides in the pre-production phase of "Kantara 2," the upcoming installment of his successful film "Kantara." Recent reports suggest that the sequel will boast a larger budget, a broader ensemble cast, and meticulous planning to offer audiences a captivating and immersive cinematic experience.

The filming schedule has been finalized, with the first shoot set to commence on November 1.

"Rishab Shetty and his team have completed the script and are currently deeply engrossed in pre-production tasks. While the first part was filmed in Shetty's hometown of Kundapura, the majority of 'Kantara 2' will be shot in Mangalore. This location has been chosen due to its natural blend of jungle, land, and water elements that align with the script's requirements. This time around, the film has received a larger budget and cast, and the shooting will span over a four-month period on a grander scale," a reliable source close to Pinkvilla confirmed.

Chaluve Gowda had previously disclosed to India Today that Rishab Shetty had already completed the script and was presently undergoing physical training tailored for "Kantara 2." The production team aims to wrap up filming by the first quarter of the subsequent year, with a targeted theatrical release in late 2024.

The prequel, "Kantara 2," delves into the origins of the mythology touched upon in the previous film. The narrative, deeply rooted in the local culture, will explore the mythological beginnings of Panjurli Daiva. Rishab and his crew spent two months researching in the coastal Karnataka jungle, meticulously crafting this upcoming chapter to deliver an unparalleled cinematic journey. An official announcement unveiling the poster and title for "Kantara 2" is expected shortly.

The original film, "Kantara," centered on deeply ingrained traditional customs of coastal Karnataka, portraying a clash between villagers protecting their land under the guardianship of a local deity and the forestry department's intentions to claim the property for governmental purposes. Rishab Shetty not only portrayed the characters of Shiva, the Kambala champion, and his father, a Daiva Kola artist, but also directed the film. The ensemble cast included Sapthami Gowda, Kishore, Achyuth Kumar, and Pramod Shetty. Anticipations are high that "Kantara 2" will maintain the same authentic style and essence as the original.

The first installment, "Kantara," produced by Hombale Films, achieved considerable success at the box office, grossing over Rs 450 crore. Fans are eagerly awaiting the sequel, expecting it to surpass its predecessor in visual appeal and storytelling prowess.
