The Sriimurali and Ashika Ranganath-starrer Madhagaja, set to release this weekend, is Literally a journey. The film has been shot across a variety of locations like Varanasi, Chamarajanagar, Mandya, and Mysuru.
Cinematographer Naveen Kumar says, “We have used dark colours in this movie which is an amalgamation of love, romance and other emotions. In Varanasi, we have shot on the banks of the River Ganga which forms a major portion of the story. The locations are completely different in Karnataka and there is much action. So, we have to make technical adjustments to ensure that visually, Madhagaja looks grand.”
Naveen says, “I insist that directors shoot in live locations so that people can connect easily. I am happy that director Mahesh Kumar agreed to my request to shoot in real places, making for a perfect setting.”
About the music for this film composer Ravi Basrur says, “We have consciously avoided typical commercial music. We always wanted the film to have an emotional connection with the viewer and approached the music in the same manner. Of course, there is one commercially viable title track, but the other four are all such that they are situational and they carry forward the story and message that the director wants to convey. It is also great to work with a filmmaker who is open minded, as it accelerates the creative process across the board.”
Quite like his earlier films, Ravi has included new voices on the soundtrack. “We have a huge talent pool of great musicians and singers waiting for an opportunity to shine. This film also has a few introductions,” he says.
