Watch ‘Why Cheat India’ for Emraan Hashmi

After a consequential name-change by the Central Board of Film Certification, from ‘Cheat India’ to ‘Why Cheat India’, the Emraan Hashmi starrer is set to hit the theatres this Friday. The movie marks the Bollywood debut of Telugu film actress Shreya Dhanwanthary. It is written and directed by Gulaab Gang director, Soumik Sen.

The movie is a powerful social commentary on the Indian education system. The discussions fired on 2009 with the release of “3 idiots”. And exactly a decade after, here is another social satire to address the archetype of doctors and engineers that continue to exist. Why Cheat India revolves around a con man (Hashmi) who rigs examinations and forges certificates in exchange for money.

Emraan Hashmi knows what buttons to push. His acting as seen in the trailer is commendable. The focal point seems to be just his acting skills, as compared to it being downplayed by his image as ‘the serial kisser’. And that is what makes the movie something to really look forward to.
