Being selected for the Oscars is like a prestigious feeling for filmmakers who have put their heart and soul in most of their works and that has shown in their films which released.
Well, this seems to be an exciting venture for most of the fans of Bollywood who have been following the pattern of Oscars for many years. After Lagaan, Mother India and Salaam Bombay, it is evidently proven that always good content is applauded in coveted award ceremonies like the Oscars. Now, an Assamese film called Village Rockstars is selected to be in the nominations.
This announcement was made by the Film Fraternity of India later today and the film is placed in the Best Foreign Language category in the Oscars.
It is surprising to hear that there were many Bollywood films like Padmaavat, Hichki, October, Raazi and the recently released films Love Sonia and Manto were also pipelined in the list of being selected in the nominations of best foreign films.
Village Rockstars is a story of a young girl called Dhunu who is riddled with negativity and poverty with dreams of becoming a rockstar and owning a guitar in her hands. The film is directed by Rima Das and was screened at various film festivals and won accolades at the national awards held later this year.
Looks like after Bhanu Athaiya, Satyajit Ray, Resul Pookutty, AR Rahman and Gulzar, there is another Indian out there to get the golden trophy back home with pride in their face.
