Incidentally, husband-wife director duo Pushkar and Gayathri, who helmed the original, have directed the Hindi remake as well. They are the only married couple directors in Asia and the movie feels rustic and nice.

The Tamil Vikram Vedha starred R Madhavan and Vijay Sethupathi in lead roles. The film, a cat-and-mouse chase thriller between a gangster and a cop, is loosely inspired from the folk tale Vikram-Betaal or Betaal Pachisi. 

Vikram is an honest inspector, who has a black-and-white sense of good and evil. Vedha is a dreaded gangster who tries to understand and explain the nuance in between through his stories.

These stories are set in UP and visuals of Lucknow are appealing and action too is logical and not kinky.

The small twists and turns make it like a crossword puzzle and the excitement it brings while the solution is offered is attractive at least. Songs are absolutely unnecessary but song Alcoholia is absolutely entertaining and a laugh riot.

Cast includes Saif Ali Khan as Vikram, Hrithik Roshan as Vedha, Radhika Apte is seen as a side character only and not like her full self like she's seen on any Netflix series/movie. Shakib Hashmi has done a tremendous job and is ready to entertain. Rohit Saraf and Satyadeep Mishra are just being honest with themselves. Yogita Bihani is a new entrant and she does impress with whatever she does. There is nothing new that Hrithik brings to the movie he looks exactly like the hybrid version of Super 30 and Agnipath, same accents, same looks. I wish the directors would have reversed the roles of Saif and Hrithik. But I really liked the movie it was entertaining and slightly edgy. 

End is a bit stretched but impactful. We had a incident in PVR where a young man was suddenly having seizures, a lot of people had gathered over his seat but the staff wasn't trained nor did it pause the movie and switch on the lights, thankfully my wife who is a doctor rushed to him and tried to help him out but most of the climax scene had been over by then. I had to explain the PVR staff to bring First aid box, which they should have ideally brought soon and also stopped the movie. I guess movie staff need to be more trained and PVR needs to start the movie on time not 30 mins late after showing all kinds of ads and trailers.
