Despite delivering 57 box office failures throughout his career, this Bollywood icon continues to maintain his superstar status, allegedly resulting in losses exceeding Rs 1000 crore for producers.

Throughout their extensive careers, most actors inevitably encounter failures and unsuccessful films. Notably, Mithun Chakraborty earned a reputation for starring in around 180 movies that ended up as box office flops or disasters. Other prolific actors like Dharmendra and Jeetendra also boast a significant count of unsuccessful ventures. However, none of these well-known figures come close to the staggering financial loss incurred by a single actor. This modern-day superstar claims this dubious distinction due to the sheer scale of his films and the substantial revenue they failed to generate.

In the realm of Bollywood, the actor with the most significant number of flop films is Akshay Kumar. Over the course of his career, he has been associated with 57 films that failed to make a mark, including a recent series of six consecutive flops. Akshay faced periods of underwhelming performances in the mid-90s and early 2000s as well. Industry insiders estimate that the collective financial setback caused by these 57 films throughout Akshay's career exceeds Rs 1000 crore. Notably, more than Rs 400 crore of this loss has occurred in recent years, with high-profile projects like "Samrat Prithviraj" and "Ram Setu" contributing significant losses of Rs 140 crore and Rs 70 crore respectively. Other major disappointments in Akshay's filmography include "Bachchhan Paandey," "Raksha Bandhan," "Tashan," "Rowdy Rathore," and "Kambhakkt Ishq."

Despite these numerous setbacks, Akshay Kumar maintains his status as a dependable name in the Hindi film industry, largely due to his impressive track record. In addition to the 57 flops, he has starred in 42 hits, surpassing the achievements of any of the three Khans. This impressive tally comprises three blockbusters and eleven superhits. Akshay has also experienced periods of consecutive successes, notably during the mid-2000s when he reigned as the box office's comedy king. His remarkable achievements have also resulted in him holding the distinction of being the Bollywood actor with the highest income tax payments.
