The film aims to uncover the truth behind former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri’s mysterious death.

Lal Bahadur Shastri was a prominent freedom fighter and the second ever Prime Minister of independent India.

The Tashkent Files stars veteran actors Naseeruddin Shah, Mithun Chakraborty, Pankaj Tripathi, Pallavi Joshi, and Shweta Basu.

The characters trying to dig deep into the facts to bring out the truth is reminiscent of the classic Hollywood film 12 Angry Men or its Indian adaptation Ek Ruka Hua Faisla.

The trailer also shows a character making fun of the hypocrisies in the name of secularism. This shows the movie is not only about the mystery but it also talks about contemporary topics and tries to satirize.

Written and directed by Vivek Agnihotri, produced by Pranay Chokshi, Haresh Patel, Pallavi Joshi and Vivek, the movie is slated to release on 12 April in the midst of the Lok Sabha elections.
