The film has faced controversy, with accusations of propaganda and the use of unsubstantiated claims regarding forced conversions to Islam.
On Tuesday, the Supreme Court rejected a plea to halt the release of the film "The Kerala Story" on the grounds that it was "the worst kind of hate speech and an audio-visual propaganda." The film, which is set to be released this week, has faced criticism from political leaders who accuse the makers of using it for electoral politics. Despite these controversies, the film has been certified by the board and cleared for release. The film claims to be based on true incidents and portrays Indian women being forced to convert to Islam by ISIS. However, the accuracy of the film's claim that 32,000 Indian women have been converted by the terror group in recent years has been disputed.
The movie is set to release on May 5 and is produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah and directed by Sudipto Sen.
