Anubhav Sinha and Taapsee Pannu are back with yet another strong content-driven film that questions the norms of the society and issues like domestic violence.
The trailer begins with a divorce lawyer asking Taapsee the reason for filing a divorce and she says he slapped me. And when the lawyer asks, just a slap, she replies, 'Just a slap. But he can't hit me'.
Thappad shows the prejudice of a patriarchal society and toxic masculinity were hitting the wife is showcased as a part of love, which reminds us last year's interview of Sandeep Reddy Vanga who in an interview said that if couples don't hit each other then there is no love between them.
The trailer also shows the societal norm where a woman should adjust with issue she faces in the married life. And society stereotyping a woman who is seeking for divorce and tagging her a 'divorcee'.
Thappad features Taapsee Pannu and Pavail Gulati in lead roles as husband and wife. The film is directed by Anubhav Sinha and is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, and Anubhav. Thappad also marks the reunion of Taapsee with Anubhav after their first successful film Mulk (2018).
Taapsee launched the trailer of Thappad during the India Vs New Zealand fourth international T20 match. Thappad releases on February 28.
